DESCRIPTION OF 316LVM PROFILE
Considered “medical grade”, this stainless steel 316 is vacuum melted to achieve the very high purity and “cleanliness” required for surgical implants. It has excellent resistance to general and intergranular corrosion, pitting and crevice corrosion in a physiological environment.
Chemical Composition of 316LVM profile
The designation of 316LVM is because the iron-based 18Cr14Ni3Mo alloy is 316L, which is a low carbon 316 alloy. It is vacuum melted to improve purity and cleanliness, while producing a more consistent medical grade austenitic stainless steel.
316L and 316LVM are both stainless steel alloy types. Stainless steel is a metal alloy that contains at least 10.5% chromium and more than 50% iron. Although it is called stainless steel, it does not stain, but has high stain resistance.
